Honestly, I am somewhat struggling to come up with a topic to write about in regards to the class that isnt just me summarizing lab protocols or things covered in lecture. Bearing this in mind, what I am choosing to write about now may be off-topic for what we are supposed to write about but I hope it is related enough to be ok. I am just having trouble as beyond writing about my general frustrations with the lackluster testing results theres not much I can write at length about.

The thing I will be choosing to write about is the fact that this class and its curriculum has somewhat helped cement my interest in medicine. While my particular professional dream is to work in gene therapy and not antibiotic production, they are related in the fact they they are both biotechnical processes and both are medicine. If I was for whatever reason unable to work in gene therapy research/development, then antibiotic or phage therapy development would be my next choice. Due to this, learning about not only the process of antibiotic discovery, but its importance, and the true depth of the ongoing and everworsening antibiotic resistance crisis has definitely light a spark, if not quite a fire, beneath my interest.

I think what also helps is I generally find lab work like the kind done in class somewhat relaxing, though the extremely limited class time and crowded class enviornment completely eliminate this. On top of that the competing for resources in class has also been a source fo stress that has ruined by labratory work zen, but the times Ive been able to work alone in a more or less empty and quiet lab with lessened time constraints has been very nice. Now as the semester comes to a close and work has alrgely wrapped up with the exception of the group projects, I can reflect back and say I had a generally interesting time even if my test results were underwhelming.

The semester comes to a close and so does the class. This semester was ultimately fairly trying for me, not due to the class, but due to outside factors. Due to those factors, I missed several things

During the process for thinking about the independent project, I intitially didnt think we would be in groups though I suppose that would have been obvious with the limited time, space, and resources
